Step 7: Preparing your NCAS data products

Who’s involved

Instrument scientist, NCAS data manager

Introduction

By focusing on the production of common ‘data products’ which follow set approaches (standards) we increase interoperability between data over time. These have been worked up through discussions with instrument operators, curators, end-users and developers to ensure that they capture all the relevant information needed to meet their needs.

Workflow

Select which is the best option for your output data:

  • NCAS General
  • NCAS Image
  • NCAS Radar

Select your data product. Follow the examples, change the relevant fields to match your instrument’s deployment.

There’s also the filenaming convention to follow too.

Both the filenaming and directory naming, plus internal metadata provide key information for later data curation

Future Plan

NCAS Data Standards will continue to evolve and develop. Community engagement is welcome to ensure these remain relevant to community needs and to develop new standards as required.
